NFPA 1951, 2007 edition
This standard specifies the personal protection requirements for protective ensembles and ensemble elements to reduce the risks associated with the hazards of technical rescue, including search, rescue, extrication, treatment, recovery, site stabilization, and other operations excluding wilderness operations. This edition specifies the requirements for three different types of technical rescue ensembles:
- Utility technical rescue ensembles that provide limited protection in operational settings where physical and thermal hazards are expected.
- Rescue and recovery technical rescue ensembles that provide limited protection in operational settings where physical, thermal, liquid, and body fluid-borne pathogen hazards are expected.
- CBRN ensemble that provides limited protection from CBRN terrorism agents in addition to all the protection of the rescue and recovery ensemble.
